Cuticle
Care
You should never cut, trim,
massage or even push back your cuticles.
Your cuticle is a natural seal between the hard nail and the soft
skin. When you degrade that seal, your
body will work to restore it, using the energy from that area for fixing and
replacing your cuticle instead of for nail growth. Your cuticle produces the final, most
protective layer of your nail. When your
cuticle is irritated or damaged in any manner, it is unable to perform that
function properly, leaving your nail unprotected. When your cuticles are left alone and treated
daily with T.I.P.S.™, they will naturally begin to recede within a few weeks.
I didn't know that, I always puch them back
ReplyDeleteThis is news to me too!
ReplyDeleteI leave mine alone but they still split and crack. :( Are those your nails? They are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteReally? I thought the more you pushed them back the faster the nail would grow, thanks for the info.
ReplyDelete@Shally - For a change those are not my nails. I used a picture that was sent in to us by a very satisfied customer. They are gorgeous, aren't they?
ReplyDelete@Beauxs Mom - Nothing can really make your nails grow faster; that seems to be a common myth. However, there is a lot of truth in the statement: "The condition of your cuticles is in direct relation to the condition of your finger nails."
ReplyDeleteVery cool info to know! I'm a bad person I cut and push! Need to try this!
ReplyDeleteIt really depends on what you refer to when you say "cut". Do you mean your true cuticle or your eponychium. Big difference.
ReplyDeleteThe best thing I did for my cuticles was massage and push them back. My nail bed has never looked more attractive. Do I jab them with hard sharp objects, no, but gentle massage does not damage anything and in fact the only way I can apply cuticle creams/balms, etc.
@ loodie loodie loodie - thanks for leaving your comments and, of course, you are absolutely right. There is a difference between the cuticle and eponychium, however the fact is that most people don't know there is and do great damage to their cuticles in their attempts to achieve nice-looking nails.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear your nails are in good shape and your grooming practices are working for you.
Great information. Thank you! I have been trimming and pushing back my cuticles for years now. Time to break that habit.
ReplyDeleteI Lisa, this is Lisa Staley, its my picture you have on the blog. And yes, I am a extremely satisfied Customer :)
ReplyDeleteMy nails are good, grow long and strong. Cuticles are a mess, dry raggard, split and torn. Considering trying T.I.P.S. for toes again. Tried in the past, and saw no results. May try again after reading this blog. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that either. I don't do it very often, but I do push them back sometimes :)
