Getting Fancy with Glitter

At the beginning of the week I posted my first attempts with polish and a glittery topcoat, but I kept back these swatches for a later date, which I decided is NOW as I have seen so many blogs involving bling and glitter this past week.
Personally, this combo is my favourite.  I have yet to try "Strobe Light" over ASK Cosmetics' Nailwear "Perfect Red", which will create an awesome look, I think.  That might be a weekend project!

Now, I have been told by bloggers to emphasize the fact that all ASK Nailwear is free of the "toxic trio": DBP, toluene and formaldehyde.  Nowadays many companies strongly advertise this too, but my question to fellow bloggers is:  How important are ingredients in polishes, removers, glitters, crackles, etc. to you?  Do you base your purchases on  the contents?  Are you concerned about any possible health effects when using polishes and the likes containing the "toxic trio"?

Most times it is extremely difficult to read the ingredients on the bottle (if they are listed at all), such as was the case when I purchased the Sally Hansen bottles of glitter.

As always I would be very interested in your comments.......

Have a safe and happy weekend!

Lisa M.

  1. I pay no attention to the ingredients. For me I just don't care. But I know there are a lot of people who do!

  2. I only own two polishes that contain the "toxic trio" and it does have an impact on the formula of a polish, but as more and more companies have switched to being at least B3 free and have had the opportunity to create excellent formulas while being B3 free I definitely care more now about the ingredients that are in my polishes. :)

  3. That is a pretty glitter mani,Lisa.Which glitter did you use?

Re: Toxic and all that,I probably own polish from one company that hasn't yet gone 3Free.It's very popular, called Kleancolor. All other stuff I own is 3 Free. There was a time when I wouldn't have thought twice about toxicity, but now that more brands are DBP free,it's not much of an issue, since I like their polish anyway.

  5. A very pretty and delicate use of glitter.
I don't really care that much about the ingredients of my polish. Most of them are 3 free simply because I own a lot of the brands that are as such.
What matters to me is if a polish smells "toxic" There are some cheaper brands out there that just reek and I refuse to used them while I have old formula polishes that I am happy to used because they don't stink.
