Peach & Cream by Essence

Brand new - Essence Nude Glam Series with Peach & Cream featured here today.

 

This shade is very attractive and innocent looking.  I can imagine it as polish shade for weddings perhaps.  However, as you can see for the few photos I post here, it's not a shade that is flattering for my skin tone. 

Credit goes to TIPS Nail Conditioner for the great nails I have.  Thanks to daily applications my nails are strong enough and yet flexible enough to withstand gardening, cleaning and all the sports I do.

TIPS Nail Conditioner can be worn with manicures as well.  Simply apply it around the skin surrounding your nails and generously on the cuticles.

I made a beginners mistake when applying this polish.  The first coat I applied was far too thick.  This resulted in a rather uneven first and second coat.  Things just didn't get any better during the second application, even though my toes were crossed.  Therefore, I'll only leave you with a few shots of this elegant shade and hope for better results next time round.

 

Always make sure your hands are moisturized.  Nothing looks worse than a well-groomed, manicured hand and dry cracked cuticles and/or parched hand skin.  I would highly recommend using a hand lotion that does not contain any waxes or silicones.  Why?  Well, these waxes and silicones found in many hand and body creams/lotions will:

• strip your hands of their moisture leaving them dry, cracked and possibly irritated;
• leave a "silicone glove" on your hands which builds up over time.  This so-called silicone glove will not allow the penetration of any nail care products you may be using.

Why would anyone use a lotion with waxes and silicones in it to begin with?  They are not natural to our bodies; they are not found in our bodies.  These ingredients are simply "fillers" for many personal care items such as:  hair conditioners, hand creams, body lotions, facial creams, etc.  You get the picture.  So be an aware consumer - anything ending with "cone" belongs in the silicone family.

 

 

So, keep your hands in tip-top shape at all times.

TIPS Nail Conditioner featured on QVC

Finally the day of the huge TIPS Nail Conditioner re-launch on QVC US has arrived.  We've been waiting and preparing for this day for a long time.  Major changes had to be made:  new logo, new bottle size, updated instructions, etc. 

 

All good things take time and we are extremely proud of the result.

Karen Orlowski, founder and creator of TIPS and ASK Cosmetics Inc., developed her flagship product approx. 20 years ago.  She first started selling her unique nail care products on The Shopping Channel and after seeing how successful it was as a shopping network item she ventured into the USA and was accepted with open arms.  Now, hundreds of thousands of women and men swear by TIPS and TIPS for Toes as their go-to product for nail problems. 

 

The instructions has also been translated into French in order to accomodate our French-speaking customers around the world.

In this photo you can still see the old logo on the TIPS for Toes bottle.  However, the new, modern logo is printed in the TIPS brochure.

Great Advice for both Salon-Goers and DIY Manicurists alike

Achieving and maintaining gorgeous nails is less a matter of luck and more a matter of caring for them correctly.  Fortunately,  proper nail care is quite easy if you use the right products and take a few simple precautions when at the nail salon.

 

 

Nails need to be moisturized, especially after removing nail polish.  Luckily, the Revival Nail Polish Remover by ASK Cosmetics does both:  removes your polish super fast and efficiently while conditioning and hydrating your nails and cuticles at the same time.  For more information on this remover click

 

Here are the most important tips to keep in mind at your next salon visit:

• While most nail salons follow strict cleanliness and disinfection guidelines, be sure to look for the following when frequenting a salon:  Does your nail technician have the necessary experience and/or license, if required?  Are the stations clean?  Does the nail technician wash her hands between clients?  Are there dirty tools lying around?  Ask how they clean their tools.

• If you get frequent manicures and pedicures, consider purchasing your own tools to be used at the salon.

• Check that the pedicure footbaths and filters are thoroughly disinfected before you use them.  If not properly cleaned, they can harbor bacteria and fungus.  If the salon does not appear clean, then choose another one.  Don't take any chances!

• Shave our legs after getting a pedicure, not before!  Don't shave your lower legs for at least 24 hours before you get a pedicure.  If you nick yourself while shaving, a pedicure could put you at risk for an infection.

• If you want to wear a bright red or orange polish, prevent discolouration by appyling an extra layer of base coat.  If your nails are yellowed and discoloured from the polish, your nails should return to normal colour over several weeks if you stay away from bright polish.

• There is no scientific proof that immersing nails in gelatin makes them stronger.  Polishes that contain strengthening ingredients increase nail stiffness, which may make nails break more frequently.

• Do not wear artificial nails to cover up nail problems as they may make them worse.  Artificial nails are not recommended for people who are prone to fungal infections or have brittle nails.  For people with healthy nails, artificial naisl can be fine as long as they are not worn continuously.

• If you wear artificial nails, know what products are used as the substances can cause an allergic reaction and if you develop a rash or other reaction, your doctor will need this information.

Stay safe and protect your precious finger and toe nails on your future visits.  Gain some peace of mind that your favourite salon is hygenic, certified and willing to please its most conscientious customers, like yourself.  Then you can fully relax and enjoy that next pedi you go in for.

Glitter Tips

Trending this season is a very easy DIY manicure that will certainly add some bling to your nails. 

In order to show you what it looks like I went to my stash and chose 3 glitter polishes that I thought would look best with ASK Cosmetics's Sheer French Pink - my all time favourite in sheer polishes.

I get so many compliments when wearing this polish.  One manicurist even glanced at my nails and said, "What a subtle French manicure you have."  I said thanks and explained they were my natural nails with two think coats of Sheer French Pink. 

 

My point is:  if you nails are healthy to begin with and show vibrant shades of pink and white, then all you need is a sheer polish to enhance the natural, healthy appearance of your nails - that is, if you even choose to wear polish on them at all.

How to apply T.I.P.S. Nail Conditioner

Apply T.I.P.S. daily to your cuticles, the entire top surface of your nails, the underside of your nails and the skin around your nails.  It is important to treat the area around the root of your nail, which is located just before your first knuckle.  For optimal results apply the T.I.P.S. treatment when your nails are driest, which for most of us is first thing in the morning.  Be sure to apply T.I.P.S. before exposing your hands to water, as it is designed to treat and protect your nails and cuticles from the damage caused by water and other harsh substances throughout the entire day.  If you wear nail polish or acrylics, simply apply T.I.P.S. to the cuticle area, the skin around the nail and underneath your nails.

 

Just remember: shake the bottle prior to every application, apply generously even the areas surrounding the nail itself, then gently rub your hands together as you would apply a hand lotion. There is no need to wait since completely dry nails will absorb TIPS Nail Conditioner immediately. So, it is a one-step daily manicure treatment for your nails and cuticles that only takes 2 - 3 minutes to complete. Your nails will thank you for it, believe me! Mine have.
